Sanyo to increase thrust on commercial business in India

Press Release Body: SANYO Electric Co. Ltd (SANYO), one of the world's largest
manufacturers of consumer electronics and commercial equipment, reaffirmed its
active participation in the Indian Market by announcing SANYO INDIA's plans for
commercial and industrial categories in India. SANYO, known more for its consumer
products in India, is a leading player on the global canvas, in Commercial Business
category as well, and has now charted the course for replicating this success in
India.

HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration), a key component in
SANYO's global portfolio, will be the key driver in SANYO INDIA's Commercial and
Industrial business categories. Having recently made its entry into INDIA in
Commercial Business through its 100% subsidiary SANYO INDIA, the company is set to
gain 5% market share in the HVACR segment, in the current fiscal. Further,
encouraged by the boom in categories like Retail, Hospitality, IT/ITES,
Construction, Manufacturing, etc., SANYO INDIA is aiming at a market share of 10% by
2010. This growth is pegged to the expanding commercial product market in India.

Elaborating on SANYO INDIA's strategic intent, Mr. Keiji Oshima, President, SANYO

Products'. With several Global players entering the market and 'Global Warming' /
'Climate Change' gaining importance in India, we see signs of such eco-sensitivity

Sanyo has patented technology to optimize Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and
Lighting load in a super / hyper market. This 'eco-store' system helps in saving
energy in the range of 10% to 25%, while it also facilitates online monitoring and
analysis of data for stores spread across, from a centralized location. Such unique
products and features have enabled SANYO in offering environment friendly and
energy-efficient solutions, leading to increased productivity for customers.

SANYO INDIA has a host of solutions for the Industrial and Commercial market - all
of which are 'Energy Efficient and Environment Friendly'. During FY 2007-08 SANYO
INDIA established leadership in Refrigeration Business. SANYO is already one of the
largest players in India for 'showcase' business. Now, it plans to leverage its rich
parentage in Commercial Air Conditioning domain and also consolidate further in
compressors and other categories. With an impressive range of HVACR products SANYO
INDIA has already garnered business worth Rs.50 crores, in this category itself. The
plan is to double the turnover to over Rs.100 crores in the year 2008-09 by playing
a larger role, especially in the air-conditioning and showcase domains.

and energy efficient. While the market for commercial products is growing at 20%

Some of the products in SANYO INDIA's portfolio related to this category, include -
Air conditioners: Wall mounted splits, ducted splits, cassettes, VRF (variable
refrigerant flow system), GHP (gas powered chiller system), VAM (Vapour Absorption
system), Telecom units and Inverter splits.
Cold Chain: Showcases for hyper market and convenience stores, cold room projects,
bottle coolers, chest freezers, ice making machines, coffee dispenser, under counter
and over counter refrigerators, commercial microwave and induction cookers.
Compressors: Rotary and scroll compressors.
Virus washer: Makes the bacteria ineffective in a mall, hospital, Cineplex or even a
house. It can be stand alone unit and if required, it can also be clubbed to the
central air conditioning system.
Water pump: Meant to pump water and has both, commercial and residential
applications. This can also be attached to water cleaning system, a pioneering SANYO
product.

SANYO is also the pioneer and World No.1 in many products, like Gas Heat Pump,
Vapour Absorption System, etc.

Initially, SANYO INDIA will source its products from its manufacturing facilities
around the globe, in order to ensure delivery of time-tested, globally certified
